Internet I recently downloaded the beloved 3D Movie Maker Microsoft (Microsoft 3D Movie Maker, in English).
The first time I used that program-game to create three-dimensional film with likeable characters, hundreds of interesting sound effects and well-designed scenarios, was thirteen. He had been in the house of a friend from school and it was love at first sight. Wanted him, wanted to play with him, wanted to make my own films. And I did. At that time I had no Internet at home (we're talking late '90s, when the domestic Internet was not what it is today), so through the older brother of a friend of my brother, I got a copy of game, he immediately installed on my computer (at that time used a "clone" pretty bad: a Pentium II with Windows 98 and 64 MB of RAM, which always hung) and started using with a vengeance. Movie Maker is rather aimed at children, but the truth is that it is addictive enough to engage in the not so young too. At that time I spent hours and hours making movies. I remember it was completely absurd (out of the mind of a preteen thirteen years, that is) but I enjoyed making them galore. I loved the chance to give the program to record your own sounds using the microphone on the PC. And believe me, I recorded a few: voices, sound effects, music ... I loved McZee, the blue man crazy guides and host of the game. The first film I did called "Dogs and Holidays" and it was about a guy who was at home, alone, dancing, when suddenly a dog that caused a disaster. I think it does not last three minutes. But I liked it.
kept happy and content doing films for almost a year. But at that time, problems arose with the computer. In fact, he had been since I bought it (I will not say where, but I assure you is the worst place to buy a PC) and as time went on, these problems were worse. The computer hung with increasing frequency, to the point that it was virtually impossible to use. At times, it crashed as soon as Windows finished loading. I took her to fix over and over and over and over again, but the results varied. In the end, that shit was destroyed single computer. At one time he was so badly damaged that it could no longer use and went to the closet of my room where he stayed for seven long years, gathering dust and cobwebs. The end of that computer, also meant the end of my short career as a filmmaker operator. And had no computer, therefore, could no longer use the
Movie Maker (one of the few programs that worked well). My dreams crumbled film director in a second.
So the years went by and I got older and had to deal with many things, which, little by little, I was forgetting the Movie Maker. Although, from time to time turned to corner, with much nostalgia.
Finally, I bought the computer new and old, which he kept in the closet, finished in the trash, the first place that would have put it. The new computer (although recertified) offered a world of new possibilities, but return to making movies was not one of them. I no longer had the CD with the program to install. Was lost at some point in the long years since I got it. Internet at home was still a distant dream, so I had no chance of downloading from a page. Of course, it could also go to a cyber cafe and download it from there, but whenever I went to cyber, it was because I had other things in mind (check my mails, reply to messages, find information, etc.), So the search Movie Creator was forgotten as many years.
Finally, in December 2009, put the Internet at my house. These days, with broadband flexible, it is much easier. Lugo small vortex that originated in my house for having the internet for the first time, I concentrated on looking for my precious lost treasure. At first I thought it would be hard to find. We're talking about a game that dates from 1995 and although he had a lot of popularity at the time, and hardly anyone remembers him. But I was lucky. Searching the blessed Google, I found a download link in Taringa.net. I downloaded the game, installed it and filled with emotion, I returned to play. I laughed out loud when you return to meet McZee (both time and stays the same!), With the characters, with the scenarios, the sounds, how to use the game. I met a lot of details I had forgotten due to the passage of time. I felt happy and went back to making movies.
When I used 3D Movie Maker for the first time I was thirteen. Now I have to confess that twenty-five finger I still love the game as much. I do not think children at all, I do not think a game for children. Even with its limitations, is a programming game that can do almost anything. Just simply use your imagination and stimulate creativity (which is the main objective novelty games and no age limit for doing so).
One objection that I put into the game as a kid was that I had too many limitations. For example, there were few scenarios to choose from and little action for the characters (which, when they speak, not even move his mouth, just gesticulating, waving his arms, which now seems a very picturesque detail). But now I discovered that I can create my own scenarios, using 3D objects provided by the game (cubes, spheres, cylinders) and actions, although they have a specific name, used to make many things. For example, the "talk" can be used both for this, to make the character is writing, and hands moving in a similar way. Therefore, the limitations of the game are virtually nonexistent. I think the Movie Maker has few scenes and little action for the user just try to find out how you can create new things for itself from existing ones.
Thanks to the Internet, I discovered that I am not the only fan of this jewel of Microsofot. There is no page titled 3DMM Studio ( http://www.3dmmstudio.co.uk/ ) in which the filmmaker fans can upload their own creations, and view those of others, or download utilities, tools, expansions, packets of sound effects, etc., for use with the program. The site is in English, of course, but I assure him worth a visit if they feel the same affection that I for the 3D Movie Maker.
Unfortunately, Microsoft abandoned the project shortly after its release. To date, there are new improved versions of Movie Maker, which is a shame, because the new generations are missing a single game. There are some programs that are something like "variants" of Movie Maker (but non-Microsoft) as the famous Movies, which in itself is not bad, but actually lost much of the charm of its predecessor. In Movies also have to make movies, but this is almost a secondary role, because the object is to run a film studio, hire actors, directors, writers, etc., manage the finances of the study, get the budget to film a movie , among many other things. It's another one of those management games like Theme Park or Theme Hostpital, which are more fun for economics graduates than for people who only want to do is have a good time developing their creativity.
Hopefully one day return to your project and release a new version of 3D Movie Maker Microsoft, improved and better suited to this time, although the first game worth its weight in gold . It's a sentiment I am sure I share with many other people.
